Controlling Your Emotions
- Written by Sherri Eubank, MA, LPC
Emotional Tranformation Therapy (ETT) is a new form of therapy that rapidly relieves emotional distress and physical pain. It uses a combination of stimulating the brain visually and attachment theory. The attachment style varies by one’s early childhood experiences that influences the development and function of the brain. It impacts your emotional regulation. Tailoring the counseling to fit the specific style of attachment can offer more effective treatment.
Visual brain stimulation works on changing your patterns of emotional regulation. A variety of colors are used while talking about problems that you are currently experiencing. The visual brain stimulation helps identify memories and the beliefs that can trigger the emotions. It offers the client the ability to change how emotions are handled. There are several different methods of ETT that can be used. One form of stimulation uses a wall chart with horizontal bands of colors. It starts with purple at the top, then indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red at the bottom. The colors are associated with stimulating specific areas of the brain that can lead to change.
