A Look at Disney Princesses
- Written by Bridging Harts Staff
Disney Princesses tend to get a bad rep. People tend to say they perpetrate unrealistic standards to young women and men, and fuel insecurities and high expectations. While I see these complaints, I see more strengths and creativity being expressed in this franchise.
Sleeping Beauty taught us to never stop dreaming.
Snow White taught us that kindness is more beautiful than vanity.
Cinderella taught us to have courage, and be kind.
Ariel taught us to treasure adventure.
Belle taught us that beauty is from within.
Rapunzel taught us to go live our dreams.
Merida taught us to be brave enough to fight for ourselves.
Tiana taught us to dream bigger, and work hard.
Mulan taught us to fight for what’s right.
Pocahontas taught us to be true to ourselves and do what is right.
Jasmine taught us to challenge the status quo.
Moana taught us to step up when we see a problem.
So what about you? What message are you spreading to the world? These princesses are, to me, so much more than what meets the eye. Disney princesses are more than just pretty faces, they teach us to do what is right and true.
