Couples Fighting during COVID-19
- Written by Sherri Eubank, MA, LPC
Have you had enough of family togetherness? Is this COVID-19 time causing closer quarters and more fighting with your partner? Are you getting on each other’s nerves more than usual? Are those right/wrong arguments frustrating? Why doesn’t she or he get it that they need to act differently? It’s all his or her fault. Even though we’re getting back out there, we’re not getting along better. Sometimes you wonder why did I pick out this person as my partner? Are you feeling like you’ve made a big mistake or that your relationship needs a tune up?
Try PACT couples counseling. It is just what you’re looking for. It’s not the old-school couples therapy. It’s newer and offers a very different approach to relationship therapy. Dr. Stan Tatkin, developer of PACT, says that it is a pro-relationship method that puts the couple before the individuals. There is no blame placed on one partner or the other. It’s looking at what creates conflict and misunderstanding in the relationship and learning new skills.
