988
- Written by Bridging Harts Staff
Last month on July 16th, 988 was launched for people in need of mental health support through the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Callers can still use the current number of 1-800-273-8255 as the shortened version of 988 is meant to be more accessible and easier to remember for people experiencing distress. The three-digit code, which is meant to be like 911 for mental health, can either be dialed to a direct line or a live chat option can be used by visiting ‘988lifeline.org’ for people in need of help. The hotline is staffed 24/7, allowing people to access it at any time. I’ve also provided a link for anyone who’d like to learn more. Take care!
