Anchor Versus Anxiety

When looking around for therapy groups for young adults, I was sad to see there were little that are offered. As the pandemic wax and wanes, and every day feels a though the world is offering up challenge after challenger, it is no wonder anxiety diagnosis are at a high. Though anxiety is being experienced all around, it is still taboo to discuss with just anyone off the street. So where are people supposed to find support? Where can counselors send clients who need more than just one on one? Where can people find a community where anxiety is accepted?

I found myself asking those questions weekly. I felt stuck for my clients, my friends, and all the people I have seen these past few years affect. So, I have decided to start something of my own. For two Tuesdays a month, I will be hosting an anxiety therapy group for young adult women.

This therapy group will focus on finding coping techniques for young adult women who struggle with anxiety. When deep waters feel as though they are about to take over, this group will teach how to anchor oneself in what is true. You will gain a safe place to discuss the different feelings when experiencing anxiety, while also having support through other members in the group. Together we will work on communication skills, mindfulness, anxiety triggers, and other conflicts that may arise during the time frame of the group. By the end, the goal will be to leave with a deeper understanding of your anxiety as well as more tools to help cope in the future.

I believe this group will be so much more than women sitting in a circle and talking. It will be a place to laugh in the face of anxiety, even if 5 minutes later there are tears. It will be a place of understanding by fellow peers who are experiencing similar triggers, and openness to unique challenges. I believe this will be a place where support will rise tall, and anxiety will fall short. I will not promise for anxiety to disappear, but I hope to lessen the weight of it moving forward.

At only $45 a session, this group is being held at Bridging Harts Psychotherapy in Allen, Tx. Spots are still open, and I am eager to meet you and show a community of those trying to feel less alone. Below I will list a few of the upcoming dates for the group.
